Jackie's Here! Lunch at La Grotta and Walk Back UP to the Village

The convoy delivering Jackie
Monday, June 13
Emanuele, driver of the Mercedes
headed from Montepulciano to Florence to
pick up Jackie at airport.
There was an
accident on the autostrade that blocked the roadway,
so Emanuele called a driver in Florence
who picked up Jackie.
When they arrived in
Montepulciano the Florence driver needed a little assistance
finding the apartment, so he called Emanuele
who provided the escort to the apartment.

Tuesday, June 14
We took the orange bus to La Grotta
and had a little time before our 12:30 reservation
so of course, as there are no end to the ways
and viewpoints that I can take photos of
San Biago and environs, I did.

Mid-morning rain left the patio a bit too wet for dining

Delicious meal and fine wine leaves Jackie in a pensive mood?
Nah, she's thinking about more of that Brunello from Montalcino

Where we sat in front of a roaring fire on
April 28th for Mimi's birthday celebration

Ready for our walk back up to the village

Peeking through the fence in someone's yard

Looking back as we head up the hill

The cat was digging for something

Appears to be a water runoff system

I was ever so grateful for this little wayside chapel...
it had a bench where I could sit and catch my breath

I wonder what's down that lane

 Oh good, it's in sight!

A few more rest stops and photo ops

 A house for sale

We made it...

but still had a way to go
before reaching the apartment
where we got grocery bags, caught the next
orange bus to Conad..grocery store,
bought lots of weighty beverages.
Back home to drop off purchases, then
out for happy hour...to the Piazza Grande
for red wine for Jackie and prosecco for me,
chips, peanuts and olive snack..then on to
Enoteca San Francisco for more of the same...
finishing at Cafe Poliziano with
chocolate gelato and cafe macchiato

Home by 10:00 p.m. or 22:00h
Blessed Sleep

Beautiful morning...what shall we do today?
